Project overview
A shutdown is the most expensive time a mill can spend: every hour the line is down is production that will not be recovered. Equipment installation during that window is unforgiving work — the old machine center has to come out, the substructure has to be right, and the new equipment has to be set, leveled and aligned before the mill restarts. This story follows RTM Industrial Maintenance through that sequence on the floor.

The work is scheduled backwards from startup
Everything in a shutdown is sequenced against the moment the line has to run again. RTM handles extraction of the old equipment, the substructure and footings the new machine center sits on, and the mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic work to bring it up — so the schedule stays with one contractor instead of being split across several.
Rigging and mechanical work under one roof
RTM operates its own cranes and rigging crews. The lift plan and the mechanical installation belong to the same company, which removes a common source of shutdown delay: waiting on a subcontracted crane that is not tracking the same schedule.
Precision leveling decides what the equipment does later
New machine centers only deliver their rated accuracy if they are leveled and aligned to spec. RTM's crews carry precision leveling and alignment through installation, and stay available for troubleshooting through the ramp-up period when problems actually surface.
